Quib, in your quest for absolute reliability, have you ever come across anything that you like that is not mil spec? The normal music wire springs are rated for 5000 compression cycles. Chrome silicone are rated for 500,000.
ETA: You are well respected here. I just wish that you wouldn't shun product development so much. Eventually we may evolve.
I’m not on a quest for absolute reliability, I already have it.
And I’ve said this before about aftermarket accessories:
If the military sees a need in it, then I’ll take a look at it to see if I can benefit from it. That is simply my way of gauging the importance of aftermarket accessories.
If it passes the rigors and scrutiny of military testing then I may benefit from it’s use.
Simply my opinion. You by no means have to agree.
ETA: A perfect example of what I’m talking about, military technology transferring to the civilian sector.........
I was recently down in Texas at American Eurocopter. I had the opportunity to talk at length to law enforcement pilots about the latest technology on their aircraft.
The subject of flying under NVG’s came up, then shifted over to IR lasers. Both areas of technology that got their roots in the military, designed for military applications, adapted to suit the needs of the civilian sector.
This is how I look at add-on accessories. If the military sees a need in it, then maybe it’s something I should look at.
