Does anyone know the current value of Knights pre-ban waffle magazines in sealed factory packaging? I acquired these in 1993 when I purchased a SR-25 from Knights.

| I recently got two NIW off the EE $106 shipped. The bodies and followers are I believe NOS original AR10 anodized aluminum, the base plates are blank the anodizing is a different type and color. I do not have an available photo at this time. They are kind of a bastard as they are not original AR10 nor are they the later steel KACs. |

I wonder what these rifles are worth now. Would the appraisal thread be the best place to ask?
Here is some more detail. My SR-25 Match (SN 200x3) was built March 1993 and my SR-25 Standard (SN 2164x) was built 12 months later. That works out to approximately 133 guns per month. Knight's started offering the Krieger 2-stage trigger later in 1993. I believe they started offering their own 2-stage trigger in 1995. I placed my order with Mr. Knight's personal secretary, Sue Walker, on January 27, 1993. My rifle had one unusual feature which was an ejection port cover made from piano hinge. It actually looked very nice. I was told that Knight's had not received the stamped covers for the first 100 rifles so they ran down to the hardware store and bought some piano hinge to fabricate covers. A year later I returned my rifle to Knight's for a gas system modification and the installation of a Krieger Trigger. When they returned my rifle they had replaced the piano hinge cover with a new stamped cover. I called them and asked for the piano hinge cover back since I thought it was unique, but they refused to return the old parts. I guess it was an embarrassment to them that they had to ship the first 100 rifles that way. About ten years later I decided to put an adjustable gas tube in my SR-25 Match and found that Knights applied Rocksett to the gas block when they modified my rifle to slow the bolt down on early guns. After talking with an SR-25 armorer I was able to remove the gas block and install the adjustable gas tube.

Fire4effect, in those early days, Knights did not build rifles in serial number order. It is possible to have a higher number on an earlier rifle, and vice versa.
I too put an adjustable gas system on my rifle, but I machined a whole new block, to use a needle/seat. Ill post a pic of that when im in better shape, lol, wouldnt want to hurt Matt's sensitivities. Im doped out on pain meds at the moment for kidney stones. |

I know when my rifles were built because I purchased them directly from Knights and I stayed in contact with Reed Knight's secretary to stay updated when they would be built and shipped. The test target for my SR-25 Match is dated March 10, 1993. Regarding kidney stones, I know how painful those can be. I passed one over the Christmas holiday in 1970 in the barracks at Shepard AFB. Last December, 10 days after lumbar decompression surgery, I thought I was starting to pass a kidney stone again. I went to se my doctor right away and it turned out to be a pulmonary embolism in the lower quadrant of my left lung by the kidney. |
