Hi,
I just picked up one of those black 9mm buffers to go into my ARFX-E Stock. The buffer was a tight fit onto the spring, unlike the previous lightweight buffer.
Now, I got the buffer all the way into the buffer spring, and in the tube. I put the rifle back together, and now I can't seem to pull the charging handle all the way back. It stops about halfway.
Do you know what the problem is? How do i fix it?
Thanks!

Carbine springs are shorter than M2 springs, perhaps you have a size larger than your weapon requires.

Action spring rifle is 12.5 inches long.

Action spring carbine is 10.7 inches long.

The 2-piece mechanical buffer like this:

The action spring should compress around the buffer as the buffer moves down the extension.  Sounds like the spring is binding preventing it from compressing.  Are the pins on the buffer sticking out catching the spring?

Yes, it looks just like that one.
No I can't see anything sticking out
I think what the problem is, is that the spring is wrapped too tight around the buffer. therefore it won't allow the spring to move freely across the buffer outside.
Any suggestions?

Just went and double checked my stubby stocked ARs with Colt 9mm buffers.  The springs don't fit any tighter on the heavy buffers than they do using a standard lightweight buffer... But, they've had quite a few rounds fired.

Do you have a different spring you can try with the buffer?  If not, you might try lubing the buffer and cycling the bolt carrier/buffer with the charging handle to see if it will wear in a bit and start moving freely...

Ok, Thanks for everyone's responses!

The problem was that the buffer spring was too small in diameter, and therefore being wrapped too tightly around the new buffer. I got a new colt spring, and it's fits like a glove. Problem solved. Thanks again!
