Hey all, after quite the delay, my AR15 project has picked back up. Here is what it consists of so far: Del-ton lower, Spike's Tactical LPK, Mil-spec buffer tube, OD Green Magpul MOE stock. I will be ordering a complete upper in a few weeks and am looking at a complete upper from SAA or a complete upper from DS Arms. I realize these may not be the best choices but I do have a pretty tight budget and would like to hear some opinions on both. I'd also like to hear opinions on the Primary Arms Micro Dot sight as that is what I'm looking to use for optics on this build.

UPDATE: 2/11/14-Del-ton Upper Receiver received and installed
UPDATE: 2/26/14- Del-ton Barrel acquired and Troy Muzzle Brake installed
UPDATE: 3/5/14-Spike's BCG and Gas Tube received and installed
Upper:
Del-ton Assembled Upper with M4 Feedramps
Spike's Tactical M16 MPI/HPT BCG
Del-ton 16" Chrome Lined Carbine Length Barrel
Standard A2 Gas Block/Sight
Troy Medieval Muzzle Break
Combat Arms Rear BUIS

Lower:
Del-ton Stripped Lower
Spike's Standard LPK
Magpul OD MOE Stock
Magpul OD MOE Grip
Magpul Black Trigger Guard
Magpul B.A.D. Lever

I've decided to build my upper receiver as well. I ordered my upper receiver from Del-Ton on Friday. Next to get ordered is the barrel assembly and BCG. I'm probably going to get a Del-ton BCG but I'm thinking of getting a Rock River Arms barrel assembly. Thoughts?

I decided to install the Magpul MOE grip and to me, it feels a LOT more comfortable than the standard pistol grip. Still waiting on DTI to ship my upper....

Got my upper in today. Really motivated to get this thing finished now. LOL Only issue so far is I don't like how the finishes aren't quite the same. You wouldn't notice it so much if there wasn't so much light on it in the picture.

LOL It just somewhat surprised me. I'm really contemplating changing over to FDE furniture.

That's why you build more than one.

I like your thought.. The next one may be a long range set up. I just can't wait to get this one together and going. Hopefully it'll only be another 2-3 weeks at the most. I've decided on a DSArms 16" Chrome-lined barrel but am still up in the air about what to get for the BCG. I'm thinking BCM or Young Manufacturing...

You won't be disappointed with either BCG.

Well folks, I'm picking up a Del-ton 16" chrome lined  barrel, CMMG BCG, and the last few small parts from my local shop this weekend for sure. I also picked up a Troy Medieval muzzle brake instead of a standard A2 flash hider. I got a few boxes of PMC XP193 to take to the range for the first time next week.

Looks Good!  I am waiting on the last few parts for mine as well, and it will look very close to that only difference being it is foliage green magpul furniture.  The BCG and Upper can get here any day now…..

This build is FINALLY a few days away from being complete. Decided to order a Spikes BCG due to the price difference between it, the BCM, and Young Mfg BCG. All parts are on their way to me, now it's just a waiting game. Hopefully making it to the range this coming weekend to send some rounds down range.

Yea, I was wondering what the hell was holding that nasty Magpul fore arm ( don't like them, personal choice thing ) on.
Looks strange that way
The rest looks nice!
With the parts in the rifle, being considered. I'd get the BCM BCG.

I'm curious as to what you mean by "with the parts in the rifle being considered".. Is this meaning a cheap rifle that needs a high end BCG or a decent rifle that would be made better by a high end BCG?

As my good friend David always says, "there are two types of rifles, ones that run and ones that don't". If it runs great, but I wouldn't expect MOA groups or anything out of it. I'd personally go with a higher end bcg and add a light but that's just my opinion, man.

Good saying. I don't expect 1 MOA groups out of it. This is going to be defensive/plinking carbine and as long as my rounds impact inside the 3 MOA reticule of the red dot I'm putting on it, I'll be happy.

No I like your rifle. Just not that hand guard. I believe all rifles should have a QUALITY BCG.  I would consider Colt, and BCM on the same level . I have several of them, but more Colts. If I was talking High end I'd be talking JP, or Young's NM
There is nothing wrong with your build. You took my meaning wrong. I assume because I picked on your hand guard.

Thank you and no offense taken! We all have preferences. I've just always handled ARs with that handguard so it is what I'm used to. We'll see how the Spike's BCG holds up. I should only be putting about 100-120 rounds through it every month or two.

Flawlessly cycled 20 rounds of PMC X-Tac XM193 and 90 rounds of American Eagle AR223. Everything felt great and it was as accurate as I'd hoped, the shooter just needs work now. The only picture I have is from my three three-shot groups to verify the zero at 30 yards. The last three-shot group landed in the 10 ring. Also, there is a brass color on the bottom two lugs of the bolt and on the bolt face. Should I scrub this out or not worry about it? I clean with Hoppe's No. 9 and it didn't remove it.

Wound up ordering a Primary Arms Gen II 30mm red dot last night. Will hopefully be here Thursday with another trip to the range this weekend.
