I have a relatively newbie question. I usually buy one item at a time, whether it be lowers, handguns etc. I just recently bought 2 Mega lower receivers that are being shipped to a local FFL. The FFL charges $25 for a transfer so I should expect to pay $50 for the transfer... Correct? $25 for each item? Thanks, I am almost embarrassed to ask this but as I said, I usually buy one thing at a time so I have no experience here.

It depends on your FFL. Some will do a flat rate for however many you have and some charge for every single one.

Yep, ask your dealer.
I have FFLs who do $35 for first, $5 for additional.  $20 for one, but $40 for 10.  $30 each.  Etc.

Some charge less when all the items are on the same 4473, but some charge the same fee per item.  It's just going to depend on your FFL.

My favorite FFL is a flat rate per visit.  If I transfer one firearm it's $25.  If I transfer 10 firearms it's $25.  It's one eform online, he just has more lines in his logbook to update.  One place charged $25 per firearm and if you get 10 lower receivers to build for presents that adds up to alot of extra cost.

My FFL charges the following:
1 transfer:
$25/transfer fee + $5 fee (goes to the State) for a Background check call.
2 transfers at one time:
$25 each transfer = $50 + $5 fee for Background check call
= $55
He waives the additional $5 fee.
I assume if I transfered more than 2 at a time, I'd be charged one $5 fee.

You need to ask your FFL. It's up to them.

Have one FFL I use who always charges me $25 for one or two guns, all coming from the same distributor. Last week I had an order of two guns that came in from one distributor and another order of one gun that came in from a second distributor, he charged me $35 for all three guns. On lowers you might be better off buying them local, might only be marked up $10 or so and less than the transfer fee of most FFL dealers.

The one I use charges $20 total for one or three. Not sure what his max number of firearms is for the $20 transfer since I've never done more than three.

Mine does two for $25 and I am happy with that price.

Mine does $20 for the first transfer and $5 for every additional transfer after.
