Just got back from the range. My bushmaster worked flawalessly, I was sighting in red dot shooting 5 -20 rounds at a time in 30 round mags. When I put more than 22 rounds in the mag it becomes a jamming pig, happened last time I was rabbit hunting. Ammo brand dosen't seem to matter I shot XM193, AE, and wolf. Magazines are the ones that came with rifle. Suggestions? Thinking about going with the 20 round staraight wall mags like the onse I had with my other AR.

What is the date code on the side of the mags?  What do the floor plates have on them?  The answers to those two questions will help us help you.

Date 04/05 bottom says BFI WIDHAM, ME USA has the bushmaster snake on it. Green followers about 400 rounds between both of them

Those are D&H mags and some people have reported problems with them, including me.  I haven't heard of problems with D&H mags dating back that far though.  Replace them.  My personal preference is C Products. After them NHMTG, but if you have a problem with C Products, or just have a question you can speak personally to Larry who is co-owner of the company.

If I were you I would try them with Magpul followers.  Since I live in a state that still forbids new mags over 10 rounds, I always try to repair whatever I can get my hand on.

I have 4 or 5 bushmaster factory mags with dates 4/05 and they all look exactly like the 11/05s that everyone is complaining about.

They work fine in my M4 even though the feedlips are touching the rounds.

Most people who are having trouble have found that taking the sharp edge of the feed lips and front inside edge of the magazine is helping.

How do they fail?

"Jamming" is not a technical term.  We need more real info.  Such as, when fully loaded - are they simply failing to feed?  As in, you fire, but then the bolt carrier fails to strip the round and fully chamber it?  Ir are you seeing doublefeeds, empty chambers, etc?

First - clean and lube per the TM with CLP.

Second - load a mag with 1 round.  Fire.  Ensure the bolt locks back.  This removes a gas system issue from the equation.

Third - if it is a fail to strip the round, and the round hangs up on the feedlip - this is the common gripe with current D&H mags.  You can replace it, or you can sand the underside of the feedlips (especially the forward edge) to smooth them up.  Also - you should inspect you buffer spring, and consider replacing it if worn.

How many rounds have you put thru the mag?

Shitcan them and get some USGI mags.  I don't know who makes bushy's mags, but I wouldn't allow them on my property!

They only jam with more than 22 rounds, if you load more than that it will jam every round by just pushing the round into the locking  lugs. After you have 22 or so left...no problems. I think gun show on 29th will bring me new mags.

That is exactly the issue I stated above.  D&H makes the mags for Bushmaster.  If you debur the feedlips, especially the leading edge - that will fix it.

Again - How many rounds have you put thru the mag?

In that case, I'll second my notion for SHIT CANNING THEM and going with some USGI mags.

Life is too short to fiddle with CRAP!

I hate my D&H curve 20 rounders compared to the old colt 20`s

However the D&H work fine in my AR
