TWO ECLANS!! NICE!! I wish I could find a guy out here in central Florida who's got one so I can at least check it out before I shell out $$$$$. I'm running a TA01-NSN w/ Docter (I know its not part of the SOPMOD program, but I like it!!) and I just can't on a whim buy it without seeing it first. I'm in the process of building a block I to match my Block II & Mk18, I'll post pics soon. NT4 still waiting on ATF

Actually, I believe it IS part of the SOPMOD program.  At least, in the beginning, they were using the TA01NSN with a J-point MRD on top, which, as I understand it, was later changed to the Docter.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The MRD was a PIP for the 4x DOS.  Most commonly it was the JPoint with the JP winged mount, but some Docters were used as well.

There was not an "official" MRD until the MRDS.

~Augee

While "unofficial" there certainly is a lot of Docters out in the wild.

That is really nice!  I'm working on something similar.  Just need to get off my butt and send my barrel and NT4 off to ADCO for a spacer and a pin/weld job.

Best pic thread on the 'net.    Block IIs are for sissies.

The top rifle is most correct.  It's an RO921HB upper on a LE6920 M4 CARBINE lower with a BCM A2X pinned & welded.

The one on bottom is a BCM M4 profile upper on a LE 6920 M4 CARBINE lower.  The Aimpoint is a PRO because I like a 2MOA dot, but at least it's in the correct Wilcox mount.   It usually wears a Magpul MOE grip a Surefire X300U.  It's my go-to long gun, I ain't usin' antique lights and I just like the MOE grip...

Will be going on my LE6920 with a KAC RAS

One question I have is what's everyone's opinion on the front sling swivel? My LE6920 came with a bottom swivel but my M4 has a side barrel mounted swivel. Do any USGI rifles have the bottom swivel, or would a slide mount be more clone appropriate?

I'm not sure what all is out there but all the GI M4s I've seen had the side swivel.

That useless parade swivel riveted to the bottom of the FSB is useless and ugly and gets on my nerves and they're fucking gay as fuck and I hate 'em and besides, they're useless.

Link Posted: 5/14/2013 4:22:13 AM EST
IIRC, the lower swivel is removed from USGI models due to M203. When I had an FSB, I lacked a swivel on it, just a side mount that I bought.
Link Posted: 5/14/2013 4:58:41 AM EST
I have never seen an issued M4 or M4A1 with a factory mounted 6 o'clock sling loop.  They're initially shipped and issued with the side mounted swivel, though they sometimes end up being taken off, which is very common on M4A1s from what I've seen.

The "original" SOPMOD Accessory Kit poster features an M4A1 without a side-sling adapter, or a bottom sling swivel.

IIRC, the original SOPMOD sling came with a KAC sling swivel, though I am not 100% certain.

Haven't had a RAS in awhile and just picked one up. I can't recall this same issue with my last one, but the top rail isn't angled to where it would create a seamless rail from the receiver. The top rail on the RAS is more raised at the delta ring as if it's not  seated properly. From there it has a slight downward slope and looks to even back out. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is normal?

Lol.....you have to take the screw from the t14 slot out and make sure the clip underneath goes under the barrel nut(on either side of the gas tube), not over it.

That's not what I'm talking about. It's seated.

ETA
Here's a pic. It's very slight but if you lay something flat across the bridge you can see the slight angle.

The RAS is ment to add more rail space, not perfectly line up with your upper.  You should never bridge optics across an upper and a secondary rail.

Yeah I never planned on bridging anything, just wanted to make sure that it wasn't some sort of defect in the machining. Like I said, I don't remember my old RAS having that slight angle.

All around good stuff there.

Sometimes I'd like to get an Aimpoint Comp M4, an EO 553, a MaTech and a SOPMOD stock just to swap around between MWS, Block I and Block II PR configurations when I feel like playing with something different.

Love the pictures posted so far. I figured I would add my current project as well. Gun started out as le6920. Thinking of going FDE block 1/1.5. Might start with the B5 SOPMOD stock in FDE next

Ive added:
Knights m4 RAS rail
Knights foregrip
Knights hand guards
Magpul Bad lever
Magpul moe+ grip

I seem to recall the PX at the base we were operating out of in Iraq selling Tapco items in it, to include mags. I could be wrong though!

Mind if I ask what FH you have on that? NT4? A2X?

Looks like an A2X

Looks like a regular A2 with a jamb nut/spacer between the crush washer and barrel.

Jamb nut?

It actually looks more like it is a spacer in this picture. But if you stack this or something similar between the crush washer the A2 ypu get the same thing.

So would that + an A2 bring a 14.5" to 16"??

I've seen a shim used on NT4 and A2 flash suppressors. That will get it done, assuming you have a 14.5 and not a rounding issue.

On my Block I, PR, and Block II, all three Colt 14.5s measure different lengths, but close to or slightly longer than 14.5.  All NT4s are also different lengths so with tolerance stacking I can get 16 1/16" or ~16.04" with 2.75 to 3 peel washers stacked together.  my no go stick is 16.02". And all combinations are longer than it.

On 14.5" barrels with A2 or A1 flashhiders if you use a split washer or peel washer with a ~.25" jamb nut you get to 16"+ and the flashider does not look rediculously long on the end... Yes i know the A2X is only .25" longer, but still.
