2008 FN clone is just about finished. Every component is “war years” era down to the lower components being correctly marked and finishes. Just need to grab the right light, acog, bayonet, sling and mag pouch…. And yes the trigger guard is on order ( the lower for now is a host till i get a correct one )Attached File |

I put a matech on mine just because I think it looks so good under an ACOG, but taking it off would solve my problems. I’d rather get a Comp M4 than do that.

It’s new w/ scabbard. Not commercial marked. $116 otd |

A few questions for the crew - 1) did any of the A4s run an Ambi charge handle or Ambi mag release? I know I know run what you brung and such but just curious as I’m a lefty. 2) if I go ACOG route, opinions on the KRAM spacer and what size fits over the KAC micro? Thanks guys! |

I never saw any and for the 2007+ Army really only pencil pushers who barely knew what end was the dangerous one carried the A4s. Marines are different, though. Something that easy to swap is hard to know. |

So a few more questions. If I were to get an ACOG for this monster 1) aside from being clone correct, are the Larue clone mounts worth it or just stick to the Trijicon TA51 2) does anyone know the height and weight of those mounts? 3) ok to mount the levers on the left since I’m a lefty or just get the LT100? Thanks again guys! I never dove deep into the A4 but I’m digging it more than my slap together one I had years ago. |

Nice. Thanks for the info! I have a few Norgons and like them so I guess another is in order! Oh, and question on the ACOG ARD… are they actually useful for non military? Mine is not very tight. I saw a suggestion about putting a few pieces of electrical tape on the top but I dont know… |

Do you feel you may ever be using this rifle in a martial role? If so then yes its useful. |

I guess I’ll keep it but probably won’t have it on all the time. |

So I finally got my Specter Gear stock adaptor today… man they take forever to ship! Anyways, my surplus upper came with the m4 barrel mount side sling adaptor. Being that it came with a surplus upper I’d say it’s clone correct but I like my front sling point closer to the receiver. What says the crew on getting the Blue Force rail mount sling adaptor or just paracord that bad boy to the RAS? I’ve done the paracord plenty of times but I feel like this one is like classier or something… so adaptor or just cord it? |

Nice! Slapped on the sling adaptor and just corded the front through the RAS for now. Popped off the rail covers and used rubber ladders. Went back to the TA51 mount as with the Larue, the Kram was touching the Buis. Moving it up a space pushed the Acog up further than the ta51 I flipped the mount but didn’t like the levers facing fwd. so ta51 it is for now. This has been a fun journey so far! Ambi mag catch in route. After that this one is about done I think. |

It works Yeah. That's not much of an A4 clone anymore though. There were and still are plenty of adjustable stock M16A4s in Marine service. The Army allowed it to during the shorter time we had the A4. Way better for eye relief unless you are 7’ tall. Attached File |

A snip from this article in re adjustable stocks on the M16s I’m not familiar with the source so for what it’s worth - https://www.everydaymarksman.co/equipment/m16a5/ (cold link) The US Army AAL M-16 Hybrid Buttstock Kit By 2009, many individual soldiers were unofficially experimenting with the collapsible buttstock configuration. United States Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) started fielding requests for proposals to make it official. They created NSN 1005-01-569-6938 in 2008 for the project, but never officially announced it as an approved accessory until 2011. TACOM authorized the hybrid buttock for any M16A2 or M16A4 in service. The Army apparently ran it through a 200,000-round torture test before approving it. The actual details are still locked behind approved access at dtic.mil, though. M16 H6 Buffer hybrid buttstock authorization Excerpt from PS 703, June 2011 declaring the new hybrid buttstock kit for M16 rifles as authorized for installation The kit contained a standard M4 buffer tube, M4 stock, carbine spring, and specially-weighted “H6” buffer. Army units could purchase the kit for about $100 apiece for installation on their own rifles. The hybrid buttstock kit still required an armorer to install it. Furthermore, it was considered a temporary modification and any rifle with it had to be returned to its standard full-length configuration before returning to the armory at the end of a rotation. The June 2011 edition of the Army’s PS Magazine, #703, announced the change. If you aren’t familiar with it, PS Magazine is the Army’s monthly publication about periodic maintenance practices. It’s loaded with good information. The image in the announcement, found on page 24 and seen above, looks suspiciously like a Magpul UBR. Don’t be fooled, though, the kit came with the standard M4 stock. Army PS 771 discussing interchangeability of M16 H6 parts with standard carbine parts Excerpt from Army PS 771 discussing interchangeability of hybrid buffer parts with standard carbine parts In a later edition, #771 from February 2017, a weapons inspector wrote the editor reminding readers that the stock from the hybrid buttstock kit was not interchangeable with the standard M4 buttstock. However, interestingly, the authors of the magazine “misinterpreted” the letter and instead talked about the buffers not being the same. If I was to guess, the “inspector” wasn’t really a gun guy and was only looking at the stamp on the buffer to decide whether the whole stock was correct. Confusingly, though, the associated image once again depicted a stock that looks like the Magpul UBR. Attached File Attached File |

I think BKings used to as well. I believe they’re GTG but if I think their barrels are nitride if I recall. Best to just keep your eyes peeled for a deal on one. They’re out there… just depends on your budget https://www.thoroughbredarmco.com/product/1004/ |

Not only is there the logo (which is easily blacked out), but on the upper I recently received, I discovered they now have star forged / stamped into the upper where the forge mark normally goes. If you're going for even a somewhat close-ish A4 clone, something to keep in mind. I promptly tore down my $600 BCM upper and threw the barrel on an FN A4 upper I had. |
