I'm looking to mount a weapon light on my Stag 3H upper. I'd like to use the existing handguards if possible and mount the light in the 1 o'clock position (I'm a lefty). I was looking at the GG&G light mount and was wondering if it's any good? Is there a good setup out there that uses the existing handguard and is reasonably rugged, or will have have to spend the money for a new rail system? I just hate to spend 250 bucks or more just to hang a flashlight on the rifle. |
I hear ya, that is why I went with the YHM FSB rail mount. Mounts on either side of the FSB.    Here is the breakdown: 1. YHM 9574 $40-50 2. Surefire Nitrolon 6P $30-35 (I have a classic 6P, but the nylon Surefires are cheaper) 3. Cheap 1" scope ring $5-10 or Vltor scount mount $30 4. Optional P61 high intensity bulb $20 Total: Appx $135 I got all my stuff from Brightflashlights.com. One stop shop over there. |

You could get one of those short sections of rail that you srew onto your handguards. You'd have to drill the holes for it. Or the ones that used the existing vent holes, put it on the top, and use a 45 degree adapter/light mount (can't remember any brands, sorry). Really though, I much prefer tape switches on rifle mounted light. Use a barrel mount like the one pictured and a tape switch attached to your hanguard. |
