Attached File Posting a project that Dwilson did some work for. Cerakoted HIR-253 by Dwilson. It was kind of inspired by the new Sako AR10 DMR that the Scandinavian countries are in the process of adopting, at least in terms of the color scheme. Stock is a fixed T65 from Linemount. It’s nice, very solid but very heavy. (16 ounces) A1 length and matches Magpul OD pretty well. After this pic I replaced it with an LMT A5 buffer tube and Magpul SL stock due to weight, and saved about 6 ounces. Scope is a Trijicon Accupower 1-8 I’ve had sitting in a box since they were clearanced. Charging handle is a placeholder, waiting on a Geissele 7.62. Barrel is a Ballistic Advantage chrome-lined 18” barrel. Dwilson cut it down to 16 inches and converted to MWS. They also implemented my idea for suppressed/unsuppressed use. The barrel itself is ported for unsuppressed use. A YHM standard gas block is then dimpled on for unsuppressed use, and a YHM suppressor gas block is pinned on for suppressed use. You just pull one gas block/gas tube assembly (and flash hider) and install the other, either using the pin or dimples. The barrel was $125. The chop and conversion on sale was $260, the gas blocks and gas tubes were about $35. So my all up cost was $420 for a chrome-lined barrel that can be shot either unsuppressed or suppressed. Coulda been a bit cheaper if I’d left it at 18”. Magpul furniture, Dueck offset irons, Larue MBTrigger, American defense mount. Weighed 13 pounds even as shown, now weighs 12 pounds 10 ounces. Probably will not add a light, because it’s heavy already. |

Armalite AR-10T with a 24" heavy barrel, A.R.M.S. #53MVR S.I.R. System, SEI muzzle brake, and Vortex Diamondback 6-24 in A.R.M.S. rings. Scope came with the rifle for a very good price but I could not for the life of me get it to focus right, so I'll probably be replacing it      |

Attached File Some minor changes. I tried to get cute and cut the gas down but may have overdone it, it’s fairly reliable but not the dead nuts, no questions asked reliable that I want. AR10s are certainly more finicky than their small frame brethren. |

Attached File Finally finished a Stag build as a modern battle rifle. Upper/lower was an OD cerakote combo on sale a while back. PRI rifle length handguard. Criterion barrel with front sight by RAW. Scored a Troy Medium rear, so it has functional irons. Holosun ARO SPR reticle (drops for 3/4/500 yards) with HM3x magnifier. You can get these as a package deal, but oddly enough the risers included are partly incompatible. The RDS has a high mount and a low mount but does not use risers. The magnifier is compatible with the RDS high mount using the included riser, but without the riser, the magnifier is shorter than the RDS high mount but taller than RDS short mount. Fortunately I found a solution. The RDS mount shown here is a stock Aimpoint Duty RDS mount. It matches the no-riser magnifier perfectly at a near absolute cowitness height on an AR10 receiver. The tall mounts on an AR10 were basically “lower 1/10th” and unusable with irons. In case anyone wants to try out this setup, that’s how it was done. Weight not including magazine is 10 pounds 8 ounces. |
