Short answer: Yes, you can order receivers and firearms as an individual direct from AIM, but they must be delivered to an FFL for you to receive them. Commentary: AIM is first class people, and wouldn't hesitate to do business with them, but on a FFL transfer required item, you do have to make sure your homework is done to insure a smooth processing of your order. AIM will help as much as possible, but you do have to prep the system to get the best flow on your side. SHD |

I started building my AR about 4 months ago and set a strict budget of $800(with anticipation that I would eventually spend closer to $1000, but wanted to see if I could build one for under $800).
THIS IS MY CURRENT SET UP: Spikes lower- $69 (www.aimssurplus.com) Black dawn (BD from here on in) lower kit- $55 BD upper- $120 BD charging handle w/ tac latch- $29 BD adjustable stock kit- $45 Young Machine BCG- $145 (can get YHM from www.vtsupply.com for $109) Yankee Hill 16" bbl- $209 Yankee Hill rifle length FF handguard w/ endcap- $150 BD Micro gas block w/ gas tube-$35 JP Enterprise Muzzle Brake- $114 (cuz I can) Magpul ACS- $145 Magpul MOE grip- $25 Magpul ASAP-$30 Magpul enhanced trigger guard- $8 Magpul AFG- $35 Magpul PMAG- $14 BD ambi selector- $40 Magpul BAD Lever- $28 BD BUIS- $70 (front and rear) Total= $1366 Now you could go a LOT cheaper if you omitted the Magpul stuff, JP brake, YHM FF, and just used the A2 flash hider and A2 grip that comes standard in parts kits... like $321 less at least. Carrier is dimensioned properly and it's straight. Both the keys and the carriers are chrome lined. The keys are not MIM and they're staked properly. Both bolts headspaced correctly and the lugs are correct. Neither the bolt or the extractor look shot peened. Single spring extractor with no bumper. I've got one of them in my "beater gun" with an AR Stoner M4 barrel from midway. A little over 600 rounds of mixed crummy ammo through it. No problems.
