I swapped stag and Aero uppers, while I was at it I swapped the two sets of iron sights.
The aero upper sights in fine (starting at 25 then moving to 50). The stag upper couldn't hit paper at 50 (although it was a fairly small target), this is why I moved down to 25 in the first place. I found it was shooting lol at least a foot low, so I lowered the front sight post until it would not lower any further, it's still like 6in low. Is this a problem? I can't figure out why my other gun can adjust just fine. Do I'm wondering if the sight is defective or something. I might switch the sights back and see if this problem follows the sights. Maybe the Aero sights just don't have as much adjustment range as the Stags do. Seems like that shouldn't be true, also the sights are universal for all uppers right? Couldn't imagine they are not all universal for all ARs. Any thoughts would be appreciated, |

Swap the sights and make sure it isnt a defect there.
You can get different height front sight posts. This can happen based on how square the front of the upper receiver is to the bore of the upper, or if handguard mounted, how square the upper receiver threads are or how square the handguard is mounted. |

The aero sights (sights with problem) are here http://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=55963&ctc=ix9aczrlo400zk8a02gtd&mi=13601&url=http%3A%2F%2Faeroprecisionusa.com%2Far15-flip-up-sight-set.html
I may try filing it down, probably switch the sights to be absolutely sure first. And finally maybe just see how the poi hits at 50 and 100 (sight post being set at the lowest). Planning on zeroing at 50. I appreciate the feedback. |

I forgot to mention the windage is also to one extreme (sight pushed all the way to the right). The aligned pretty close to poi, but it seems strange that it would align with such an extreme. Also note this was at the 25 and would be even further off at 50 or 100. At that point I would not be adjustable to compensate for the poi.
I'm really beginning to think the sights may just be messed up. Gar, this is frustrating xD Would contacting the sights manufacturer (Aero Precision) be a good idea at this point? (after swapping the sites to confirm the problem is just with sight) |
