Hey guys,

Longtime lurker here; working on my first build with all the great info the site has to provide.  Anyway...

I bought a new chrome lined barrel a couple of weeks ago and just finally got home from school to open it up and take a look.  What I found is some discoloration just a little inside the muzzle that looks like rust... I  know a chrome lined barrel shouldn't rust inside the bore, so I'm not sure what's going on here.  I made a couple passes with the bore brush to no effect.  There doesn't appear to be any degradation of the lands or grooves in the affected area, just a rusty color.

So... is this something to worry about... or am I in the clear.   Thanks a bunch for the help.

That is copper fouling. Clean that puppy. You are OK.

Thanks a bunch... I wondered about that but figured a brand new barrel wouldn't have had that.  I guess they must test fire these things at the factory.

Thanks for easing my mind.  Can't wait to get this thing put together
