I am trying to install the bolt catch on my lower. I put the spring in the hole where the buffer retaining pin goes. The problem is the bolt catch buffer does not move above the spring, its really tight.

I am sure the right spring is in below the buffer. Any suggestions?

sounds like you used the wrong spring make sure it is not the sear spring

I am using a lower parts kit. The parts are prepackaged for each step. The trigger and disconnect are together already so I can't compare springs.

Doesn't guarentee that it's the right spring. You'd be amazed at how often the outfits that sell this stuff screw up.

BTW, what the heck is a "buffer" on a bolt catch assy? Are you referring to the detent?

When you put the buffer over the spring, the buffer fits tight. Does not move with spring.

That looks like the wrong spring is one end bigger than the other

The picture I used is from the build forum. Both ends of the spring look the same.

well, if you are sure its the correct detent/spring combo then either the lower is out of spec, or the detent/spring is.  What lower and what parts kit are you using?

I just received an email from the lower parts company. The anodize sometimes is to thick to allow the buffer to go in. They are sending me more to try to get to work. We will see what happens.
