Hello everyone first post here. I have a Bushmaster XM-15 with a ton of goodies I just put on in the past few weeks with some tax money. ht
I have a CVL on the top of my Troy rail and it was working great and holding zero very well for the first maybe 100 rounds I have put through the gun since it has been on there. Then this afternoon after getting my ECOS roughed in at 25meters I noticed the CVL would not turn on by either switch after that last shooting session. I felt that maybe I left it on, and it had a bad battery that could have killed it while I was out there. Changed to two other new batteries and still no workypoo. WTF? Did I get a dud, and this is extremely rare for an Insight CVL or are they finicky little butterflies, and I need to try and get my money back instead of having a new one sent? They are supposed to stand up to shock but I feel STRONGLY this was shock related to two 20rdrs I ran through last testing the Doctor out.

Long story short, is the CVL a 500 dollar waste, or do I have a fluke piece and should get a replacment?

First off, welcome to the ARFCOM!

I use and sell the CVL and I had never had a return or failure as yet.  How old is the unit?  I would surely send the unit back to either your dealer and/or insight technologies for repair. Also, take a look at the inside of the batter cap to insure no corrosion may be there and insure the battery is making good contact as well.  Hope this help.

Thank you for the response. As for how old.....o about 9 days old LOL. I guess I got a bummer. O well, I guess I will see who wants to be the one to take it back between Insight and TSGCOM,INC. This is my luck, its the only luck I have. LOLhinking.gif

Well TGS didn't want it. But lucky thing is so far Insight seems to be a stand up company. Customer service guy was nice and said to get it over there so they could fix it. He estimated 2 weeks or less to have it done. I am glad they are good people because I NEED good customer service with my crappy luck.

+1 to Insight.  I met some of their guys at Shot Show and they seemed very helpful and nice.

Sorry guys I forgot all about this thread.

Well after a minor mixup, I got the laser back and it seems to be working well now. Functionally the laser is doing great now.

As for Insight, they might have some issues to iron out amongst themselves. The customer service person I initially talked to gave me some instructions on how to send it back, and with what info it needed. Well, once it got to them I gave a call to them but no one there could find it. They assumed it was just delivered to their other building next door that does military only repairs. Not really worried I waited about 2 weeks before I gave them another call. They put me on the phone with a very nice lady who politely told me that she does not handle civilian repairs. I was then put back on the phone with another nice lady that told me that the before mentioned lady was mistaken, and that the CVL gets repaired over there regardless of  military status (or lack of). To make it worse, no one knew where it was really at exactly, but they did know they had it....hat
But true to her word, one of the chicks up there got it straight, and got it to the repair department that it needed to get to (wherever that was) and about 2 weeks after my second call, it arrived, working like a champ again. So it turned into a month long deal, but I associate most of that with my sometimes hideous luck.

I also have a YHM suppressor that I have been trying to get to me for about 6 months now but because of all types of disastrous stuff, it has taken so long. Takes the average person maybe 3 months, it will take me 8 total probably. O well, it could be worse I guess. LOLBut Insight is good people, and the laser is just plain tits. I have spent too much time with the cheaper stuff and it was just a waste of money. Not holding zero was a BIG deal to me, and the switches always went crappy on me with the cheap stuff. The Insight CVL is solid.......now LOL
