I had another thread going about this earlier today. Got home and took some pics of the upper. I have verified that it does have the brad'd front swivel (someone said that some had pinned type) and that the top of the barrell (this is a 16" unit) just about an inch behind where it necks down before the fh. it says 5.56 NATO 1-9 on the top center. (maybe the pics will show the step down I'm reffering to) the upper recvr. doesn't seem to have any marks on it anywhere, it doesn't have the M4 ranps in the barrel, and the site doesn't have any type of marks except that on the top behind the pin/needle it says UP with the arrow pointing to the left. The T markings don't seem to be sut in, they seem to be simply stamped or similiar (not raised nor sunken in)

Also - The 6-pos. stock has "DSC" stamped on it - What does this stand for? - What does this stand for?

huh......  The RRA guy from the industry section gave me some things to look for this morning, and I don't see any of the tell/tell signs (RRA logo on the flat cover of the ch, nor the feed ramps I don't think are what he was reffering to when he said

"The feed ramps should be extended from the barrel extension across the ledge of the upper receiver to aid in feeding."

See pic below.

Does anyone else care to add anything here?  -  Like I said in my ;ast post "based on some info from RRA, this does not seem to be an RRA"

Again, I'm probably looking to sell this, but obviously need to know I'm actual selling, as too - the buyer will want to know what he's buying.

Thanks in advance.

It could still be one of our upper receivers, but it isn't a factory assembled upper half, nor is it our barrel with the markings you've described.  The DSC on your stock is Double Star Corp....the FFL/manufacturing side of JT Distributing.

It looks like a DSC 16" HBAR contour Kit gun on a RRA lower.  Look for a DSC on the barrel near the 5.56 NATO 1-9 markings.  You might have to take off the handguards, though.

DSC has a retail price of $469.95 (add $50.00 for Chrome-Lined barrel) for the kit.  Nothing wrong with either DSC or RRA.  Both are pretty good companys.  Nice basic KISS carbine, though personally I do not care for the HBAR contour.  YMMV.

Have you actually fired this AR?  Looks like grease is still in the barrel extension.

Sorry to hear that you are selling it.

No never fired it.

I think whats happened here is the guy I got it from assembled it using a stripped lower, and then sold. - I got in it pretty decent, because I did some trading - My first ? to him was "is it a factory built rifle"  -  Oh yeah, I believe so he said. - Then a bit later I asked with quiet a bit of emphasis - He then said "well, I have no reason to think it isn't - I can barely keep up with the history of my personal guns"  -  From that moment I took it to be NOT factory built. The bolt and internals look as new.

He had a bull barrell as well, which is what i really want, but price was stiffer on it, and with this one appearing as new as it did, I stayed with it.

My post it for sale this eve. - Top doesn't appear to have ever had any sort of sites on it, so that just re-itterates that it very well may have never been in use.
