I buy it by the case whenever it goes on 'Members Only' sale at my local gun range.

It's the best M193 on the market.  At $349 a case, stack it as deep as you can!!!  Yes it is fully sealed!!

I've got a 1200 rd case of it coming Tuesday. To North Florida it was .31 cents per round delivered. That's a steal when Wolf Gold or Federal American Eagle is only .02 cents per round cheaper @ $290/1000 delivered.

I've picked up some Wolf Gold and Federal in the past month and that will be my range ammo. The IMI will be my stash/zombie apocalypse ammo.

agreed, the current mfg IMI in the brown box from wideners is the most accurate m193 i've shot. even the older black and white box and the q3131a was grat too.

What's so great about it? What sets it apart from Federal or Wolf Gold?

Better accuracy than XM193. Much better for the same price.
That and that it is just damn good.

i am guessing its more accurate due to more consistent powder load and more symmetrical bullet design. not sure how they get their projo's from though.

Is it loaded hotter than Federal XM193 or about the same? And is there noticeable muzzle flash if you're shooting indoors?

I actually have rifles that prefer Fed XM193 to IMI.  The fed has a slightly longer bullet so it tends to shoot more accurately in tighter twist barrels.

According to Molon's tests, Fed and IMI m193 are around the same velocity.

It would be interesting to see how this IMI M193 compares to the IMI M193 that was for sale almost a decade ago...

Specifically, is it the same low-flash powder and accuracy and fps comparisons... The old-school IMI was very low flash, perfectly assembled, full M193 power, and very decent accuracy for a military load.

I could supply a box or two to a verified member with the equipment to test (like Molon tests of yesteryear lore...), but I do not have any new IMI M193... Do have some IMI 9mm coming my way though...

I just shot 1200 rds of old (bought in 2004) IMI M193 at a carbine course. It had low flash (night shoot), burned fairly clean, and was accurate. I too, hope the current stuff is as good.

I ran into a good deal on (samson IMI m193) is this the same as the brown box ammo from wideners?

I always thought that IMI was a bit cleaner. As for ass kicking leaps and bounds over Federal 193, I'd give IMI a small advantage, but not an ass kicking to normal 193. $ for $ though if IMI and Federal were my only 2 choices, then IMI it is.

Remember, IMI stands for "Israeli Military Industries."  I'm pretty sure IMI makes their own projectiles.  It looks like the Israeli military likes 55gr bullets...

I'm coming on 1900 rounds fired without a hiccup yet, I buy it everytime I can

I've had good luck with it. I just ordered another 500 rounds at just under 33 cents a round delivered.
I read somewhere that it's all Federal components assembled in Israel.

Doesn't seem to be. Samson gets a poor rep if you google it some more.  Don't remember specifics though.

Yes IMI M193 and M855 is fully sealed.

They are not out of it. ( and no I haven't called them )

Like most retailers they have pulled it of the "shelf", and are waiting to see what the market does.

I have noticed this so many times that it is now just a fact of ammo life.

I like Wideners a lot, but they do this from time to time.... as well as numerous other retailers.

You will also see the "not selling well ammo" being sold for far more then it is worth.

Their offices are in Riverview, FL but their inventory is warehoused and shipped from Savanna, GA so anybody in FL or GA gets charged sales tax also.

Independence brand IMI may or may not be the same as the brown box IMI M193.  There's several threads in this forum about it.

Is IMI 5.56 the same as the Independence brand 55.56...says it's made by Israel Military Industry (IMI)???????

I was reading on SGAMMO.COM they say the Independence is made at IMI but from Federal Components.
This is all very confusing on what is good and the right stuff and what is really not what it appears to be.

thanks!

IMI ammunition is built by IMI with their own components to their own specs.  Independence is built by (insert arsenal here) with Federal's components to Federal's specs.  Hope that helps.
