IMI M193: Brown Box vs Green Box On numerous occasions I’ve heard people ask, “What’s the difference between the brown box and the green box IMI M193?” Answer: "The color of the box." Seriously. The brown box has 20 cartridges in it and the green box has 30 cartridges in it. Otherwise, they’re the same load (for current production).  Fired from a 20” Colt A4 barrel the brown box IMI M193 had a muzzle velocity of 3134 FPS. Three 10-shot groups fired in a row from a Lothar Walther barreled AR-15 at a distance of 100 yards had an average extreme spread of 2.31”. The 30-shot composite group had a mean radius of 0.65”  .....  The green box IMI M193 had a muzzle velocity of 3135 FPS when fired from the same 20” Colt A4 barrel as above. Three 10-shot groups fired in a row from the Lothar Walther barrel had an average extreme spread of 2.29”. The 30-shot composite group had a mean radius of 0.64”  …. |
