Getting ready for suppressor action. Problem is all my AR's are extended A2's pin & welded. How hard is it to unpin them? They are all BCM's if that makes a difference in how hard or easy it may be. I saw 1 video, with only a description & not any real footage. Pic of one.

| Some are slightly more easy than others due to the size of the pin in the hole, but either way not that big of a project. Your not going to save the current FH or crush washer doing this, so cut into it and get on with it. |

I would take a dremel or file and get the weld flat against the flash hider. Then center punch the weld, take progressively bigger drill bits and slowly drill out the weld. It shouldn't need much depth. Once you get the weld drilled out enough, the pin should be able to drop out, then you're good to go. |

ADCO will do it for a measly $40, just throwing that out there. Plunge cuts with an end mill has been my preferred method. A cut off wheel on a Dremel or angle grinder has removed many if your hands are steady and you are familiar with the tools. Depending on who did it and how they did it, once the weld is removed the pin should come out fairly easy once the weld is removed. |

I sent D Wilson a BCM upper to have it unpinned and a new MD pinned in its place. They sent me the old MD back. It’s so clean I’d have no issues screwing it onto another upper and using it. With the right tools it should be no issue. I was going to take my die grinder and cut off wheel to it. That would have been fine too. Just not as pretty. |

Fuzzy, I removed a P&W FH last week that was installed years ago by KKF. I put the barrel in a padded vice & used a 3/16" drill bit with a battery powered drill. It was a simple job, going slow drilling out the pin & checking the depth of the cut numerous times. Once I got to the threaded section the FH turned off with a large crescent wrench. The only other tip I would give you is to wrap the exposed end of the barrel before the FH with multiple layers of duct tape, in case you slip with your grinder or drill. |
