Calling on all you 300 Blackout owners... I am trying to get an idea of what level of accuracy sub 16" barreled 300 BLK AR15s are able to produce in today's market with current ammo. My hypothesis is that 300 BLK is inherently NOT accurate at 100 yards compared to 5.56 and there will be VERY few MOA capable 300 Blackout builds out there. I have seen tons and tons of sub MOA capable 223 Wylde / 5.56 rifles, but not really any 300 Blackout equivalents. Please post PHOTOS of your best groups and rifle. Please give ammo and barrel specifics. Just from reading posts and seeing people at the range, I expect there will be lots of 1.5-2 MOA photos, but not many sub MOA photos. Let's see those groups! |

Attached File I have a couple 300s and all are 1 moa accurste with ammo they like. Typically 110-150gr are most accurate for mine. However some handloaded 168s smks will cloverleaf for me. You will probably have to try a wide variety to see what works or handload. As an example this is 125 yards using 130gr Speer Varminter projectiles and Lil Gun from a 16" barrel. These are scooting a long at just over 2100fps |
| I had barrels from Faxon, Ballistic Advantage, Criterion, Noveske, CMMG, and Wilson Combat. None of them did better than 3/4" at 50 yards with my load of 125gr TNT or 110gr TAC-TX. I might have had a single 1/2" group out of all those barrels. Granted, they were all low round count and I fired maybe 700-900 rounds total of 300 blk. |

Barrel steel, twist, length, manufacturer, etc? I have seen a few 16" 300 BLK bolt guns and one 16" 300 BLK AR15 shoot MOA, but it seems like 98%+ of the 300 BLK AR15 SBRs I have seen just can't. That includes Sig Rattlers, Q Honey Badgers, and a slew of typical milspec styled, pistol gassed 7.5"-10.5" 300 BLK uppers. |

300blk does seem to be a bit particular. I thought I had a good 110vmax load back around 2012 for my 16" wilson combat barreled then played with some solid copper bullets and after that accuracy was 2ish inches. A year ago I pulled it back out to play with some of the 110 midsouth black tips and some 155ftx bullets. I started with finally scrubbing the barrel. After that accuracy was really good. The 110s were running sub inch with some groups better. Unfortunately I don't have labeled groups but pretty sure that these are from those testing. It's funny that they either string or there's a flyer. In 300 is seems 16" is much easier to get good accuracy from. 300 in general is a compromise in about every aspect to try and do everything while not excelling at any one thing. It’s a spikes build 16” carbine gas and only has about 60 rounds thru it, it likes AAC 110gr V max and 125 gr saber black tip ammo. Attached File |
