I own an RRA entry carbine with the R-4 handguards. Are the R-4 hanguards the same length as the CAR length?

Yes, just fatter. M4 handguards are fatter to make room for 2 heat shields, but most fat handguards don't even have 2 heat shields. Regular Carbine handguards will also fit on your rifle.
