LOL!

The answer is, it depends.  The military "field" gauge does not require the removal of the extractor or ejector. But every other version i've seen does or you run the risk of interfering with your reading.  Get yourself one of those sinclair bolt tools and the proper size punch and its a 60 second proposition.  You need to disassemble your bolt periodically for cleaning and inspection anyway.
