I've been shopping for a free float system. I liked the DD ones but cannot justify spending $300 on one. So I found this one: Midwest Industries Gen2 Two Piece Free Float Handguard, Mid-Length.
My question is, will it fit on my Colt LE6920 AR15 (Pictured Below)? I'm assuming so, since it has a 16.1" barrel, but just wanted to make sure. Also, has anyone used one of these systems by this manufacturer? I'm new to the AR scene, so I'm not sure of the quality, although I can see it's made out of quality materials. Definitely want a FF system to replace the cheap rails I have on it now... http://s22.postimg.org/5b9egose5/IMG_1755.jpg |

Gas ports differ on several barrels a 16" barrel could have a carbine, middy, or rifle gas system. Your gun has a carbine gas system or carbine length system. Buy the 7" rail. MI is G2G. ETA: Nice gun. BT dubbs |

If you keep your stock front sight, and want to go with a totally drop-in model you have two options for your carbine-gas 6920...
ETA: I just googled each of the model numbers and took a look at the images, but there are actually quite a few reviews and discussions about each.. You might want to take a look. ETA2: there are other options out there (other brands, models, features, etc)... no idea about pros/cons or your requirements. But good luck. ETA3: they look to be good quality, but you may want to check the dimensions against other makes/models here since these may be a little larger/rounder and not as narrow as some other designs, if that matters to you, YMMV. MCTAR-20G2 $150 (goes from reciever to behind the front sight)
Example:
....or.... MCTAR-20XG2 $195 (goes from reciever, to a few inches past the front sight, with an area that allows the front sight to poke out)
Example:
