Hello all, this is my first post here and about a month ago I decided to start collecting parts to assemble a decent AR. What upgrades are available for the base part of the rifle? Starting with lower upgrades since that is what I have started with. Thanks...
My main question is about upgrades and purchasing only small parts that won't be in any of my upgrades so as not to end up with a lot of extra parts that would probably be wasted funds. I have decided to use all KNS pins and the Perma Pin... so the anti rotational trigger pins, the push button pivot and take down pins from KNS. I want to also buy an upgraded set of springs, any that can be upgraded will be. I already have a pistol grip so won't need one of those either. I also want to go with either an SS LPK or should I continue with the small parts purchases and not buy a kit? If I don't get the SS LPK I want the chrome or TiN plated parts. Does anyone have any input on the TiN vs. SS vs. Chrome upgrades? I am also considering ordering a decently upgraded Model1 rifle kit and hanging onto the extra parts for a possible budget build for later on. If any of this doesn't make sense please tell me and maybe I can think of a different way to explain what I am trying to ask. |
| Get a Rock River Arms Lower Parts Kit with the 2 Stage trigger, and a Magpul pistol grip. Don't bother with the KNS take down pins. If you are building a carbine, get a mil-spec receiver extension, and a Magpul stock (or something similar). Also, make sure to upgrade the receiver end plate to something like the Magpul ASAP so you have a good single point sling attachment. And get a nice bolt carrier group, and upgrade the extractor system too. And get an enhanced trigger guard also. |
