Hey all new to the forum. I just purchased my first but not the last lower receiver. It's a P.O.F. Gen 2 (I think). Just looking around the internet for the best deals to complete my first AR. I'm looking at the VLTOR for my upper and have a couple of questions. Vltor VIS Carbine w/ Bolt Assist & Shell Deflector (M4) What size barrel is better suited for this, 10, 12,14inch? Vltor VIS MID Length w/ Bolt Assist & Shell Deflector (M4) Is this for the 16inch barrel only? Vltor VIS RIFLE Length w/ Bolt Assist & Shell Deflector (M4) I take it that this is for the 18inch barrel and none smaller? Thanks for any info:) http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/915Fokai/001-2.jpg |

Thanks KalihroughHow do you differentiate btwn. this things. Is VIS1 for the 12 and below? VIS2, 16 and below? VIS3, 18inch and above? If I don't get a 14inch barrel I was just gonna go with a 16inch and I would want a VLTOR that would still have the same compact look as if I had like a 10 or 12inch barrel. I kind of get what you're asking now. I was taking about actual gas tube lengths, but you're talking more about rail lengths. With rail lengths, you can pretty much run whatever length you want. It is mainly cosmetic, so whatever style you think looks the best will work. (As long as you are protecting the gas tube.) I think if you went with a 16" barrel, the mid length rail and gas system would be ideal. I think a 7" rail on a 16" barrel just looks weird because there is too much barrel sticking out. A lot of people like the look of a Rifle length rail on a 16", but it's not really my style. Just a little too much rail for me. Also consider a 14.5" with mid length rail. I think those look the best, and you can have either a 7" or 9" gas system underneath. |
I'm sure I've spent more cash on a sensible retirement than your ducati. :P wtf people. Is this really a pissing contest? |
I'm sure you have and that's great but I'm just here to learn and get some informative information while others would love to just put their 2cents in. I'm in no way trying to start anything with anyone but if you dish it out you should be able to take it toohathttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d194/915Fokai/retard.gif |
How did you get my high school picture? You bastard. Is nothing sacred? |
Don't know about that. Mine upper was built by Noveske. His VIS2 is 1.1" longer than a standard VIS2, when I got it the Halo mount would not fit. I called Vltor and they said they do a special run for Noveske that is 1.1" longer or 11.1" and they had none of the standards in stock. They told me they could make a few standard 10" in a couple day for Noveske. I sent it back to Noveske he worked some magic and had it back in seven days. I believe Rainier Arms has them in stock. I think if you look you can find them. I would order if you see it. Seems to be like trying to find a Mega lower or upper. I bought a Mega lower and passed on the upper and I am kicking myself now. |
Sweet bike my uncle has the same one (Ducati) in red... If that's the 1098... I think it is... |

I'm sure I've spent more cash on my bike than you have on your AR.
