I recently got through machining some Spike's lowers and am having a problem with the first assembly. I am using a stainless steel LPK from Rguns. The safety switch was difficult install and I had to tap it firmly to get it into place because of interference with the trigger. Now the only time I can get the switch to safe position is when I cycle the bolt. If I start with it in the safe position the bolt drags and gets stuck . With the bolt catch engaged the switch will only move about halfway to safe and then stops. My Rock River lower will go to safe from any bolt position. What do I need to look at ?
Thanks.

| Most milspec triggers will NOT allow safety engagement until hammer is cocked. Most aftermarket triggers ( Jard, and some others) are set up that you can engage the safety even with the hammer down BUT you may find it very hard or impossible to then cock the hammer. As far as your issue of a tight safety, what type of trigger is it? Stock/ milspec or custom? It sounds like it needs to be tweaked or adjusted some, or maybe a wee bit ground off the trigger. |
