| I haven’t gotten many comments on this, but my picture does suck. Any how, as I was putting my new build into the safe, I noticed something. My SBR with a 10.3 barrel and piggy brake is only about a couple inches shorter than my 16" rifle. I sort of feel like I'm wasting a good SBR. Should I put a shorter barrel on it? Toss the brake? |
| Very nice carbine! I wish I had the extra cash for a SBR stamp. You may want to loctite the set screws on your gas block - and usually the castle nut on telestocks, but since you've got the best stock ever made on there (m93b), you don't have to worry about that one. |
Looks GREAT bud, good job |
I've got a 10.3 SBR and part of what I like is the compactness. I can put my can on it and it's still less than a standard A2. I'm not a fan of the pigs but some people like them. If you feel you are wasting a good SBR then there is the 7" barrel to move to but that seems like a waste of good .223 ammo due to loss of ballistics. Then again some say the same about the 10.3s. Of course you could always go with a 7" 9mm setup. |
Already in the works. I've got some more lowers on the way. A 9mm SBR will be built out of one of them. How is the OAL length measured on these? Dose it include the brake? Stock collapsed? I think I may have screwed up and put too high of a number on my Form 1. Can I call and have it changed or and I stuck with my mistake? |
From my understanding, the lengths are with the stock extended and without the brake, unless it's permanently attached such as the 14.7s with a pinned FH to make the 16". If you need your Form 1 info updated, just write the ATF NFA branch where you send the Form 1s to and let them know of the changes. On the original Form 1 they want a specific barrel and overall length but I think you can amend it to include multiple calibers and lengths through the letter. They'll send you a confirmation letter letting you know the info has been updated. It's really no big deal. Might want to hop over to the C3 section and ask there too. BTW, that's a good looking rifle. |
