Just joined the board at the Bronze level, and am slightly amazed at the size of the black rifle community here.   I've been at 1911forum.com for quite a while, and recently joined the ranks of AR owners.

I have a new Colt LE6920 enroute from Jim at Police Supply Inc. in the Florida Panhandle, and have already ordered a couple of essentials for it (Eagle Industries Discreet rifle case, and a small armory's worth of magazines).  The current shortage of first rate ammo is something of a bummer, but if the lads need it in Iraq and Afghanistan, I'm happy to make do with alternatives for a while.

Having read a number of good posts here as a lurker before joining, I've pretty much decided to shoot the carbine a bit as it comes, take it through Randy Cain's course in Florida later this year "naked," then look at things like optics and a light.  Seems that there's no end to the money one can spend "enhancing" his AR.

As a former career grunt (Army), I knew the M16A1 well, to say the least.   Very much looking forward to learning my new carbine as well.

Best regards to all.

Welcome to the boards.

Sounds like you need plenty of Wolf ammo. Don't listen to the people that say it'll ruin your rifle. It's some good stuff.

Welcome

I wouldn't go as far as saying Wolf is good stuff but it goes boom and is cheap so why not use it

Be careful here, I used to spend about an hour a day on the computer now I'm at about 4 1/2. Sad thing is that I'm a new guy also, 3 new rifles in as many months.

Gang, thanks for the welcome.

Rick-James - right before I bought my 6920, I also bought a Ted Yost Signature Grade Colt LW Commander.  It seems that the perfectly great Les Baer Concept X carry gun I already have in that category was plenty serviceable for daily carry, but since I didn't own a true high-end, one of a kind, custom 1911, I just had to give in and......well, you all know the rest of that story.  Bottom line, no new guns for me for a while!   I really mean it.  No kidding now.  I'm serious, gravely serious......

M4-TUNA  I'm in Orlando.  For you Florida members, if you don't know about the great carbine (and other) training available year-round at Southern Exposure, you should.  I took Tactical Handgun 101 from Randy Cain there this year, and will return for his carbine course, and maybe Pat Rogers', too.

redfisher  If your screen name's any indication, we have another hobby in common.    I feed that addiction from a Maverick Master Angler 18.5

Reload  No thanks necessary - winning the draft lottery and sticking around for a couple of years (25) turned out to be the best thing that could have happended to a guy who got thrown out of college.  Wouldn't trade a day of my time in the Army for anything (well, most days, anyway).

new-arguy   Thanks for the invitation, would love to join you someday, but you're a bit up the road from me!

We've got an Orlando crew who comes up every month. They ever offer to car pool! At the very least, try to make it to the anniversary shoot. Thousands of dollars in giveaways from most major manufacturers, a shoot house, BBQ, and tons of fun. Keep an eye out in the FL forum. Should be in October or November.
