This being my first AR I need a bit of input on getting my rifle running. I took it easy on this one by just doing a stripped lower, parts kit and stock deal. Ran across a chance to pick up a prebuilt upper that appealed to me so just went that route for now. The upper is a DPMS CMP/DCM set up that I will do some local matches with just for fun. Plan on doing a trigger job or match trigger upgrade in time but thats about it. I do want to do a total parts build upper as well but have not decided just what calibler and features I want to do. Shooting the one I have together now will help decide that as I go along. For now I need some pointers on what needs to be done on this project to get it ready for test firing and break in. I assume that striping down the upper, cleaning up the heavy oiling it got from the factory, giving the barrel a good swabbing out ect. like any new gun is in order. What parts need to be lubed for best function and with what? Any parts in the lower need attention, I did not use any lubrication during assembly. I just pulled the upper out of the package, gave it a prefunctionary wipe down, pinned it onto my lower and function tested by hand, dry fired it and made sure the safety operated as it should. Any advice on a pre test fire procedure would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. The pic below is pretty lame but I will get a some better ones when I go to the range to start shooting.

Sounds like you've done most of what you need to do, a good cleaning followed by a function check to ensure everything is operating properly.  Here's a link to the manual:  http://www.ar15.com/content/manuals/TM9-1005-319-10.pdf  Read that for your lubrication points and safety/operating info and you should be good to go.  Buy some good ammo (not wolf or reloads) and enjoy!
