We used a lot of the wire front sling attachments in the Ranger battalions in the late 70's and early 80's. This picture is some of my original kit with an H&R 653 with the wire sling adapter. I haven't done it on this one yet but we also used to take gutted 550 cord and run the wire through it to keep it from clanging around. Attached File |

This thread prompted me to finally got around to putting the 550 cord around the wire sling attachment. We did this to take away the noise these would make banging around. Attached File |

They came with a nylon loop that was replaced with 550 and green 100mph tape on the stock. I also remember using M60 slings when possible for the added length and padding. |

| I used one of those on my rubber duck when I was a cadet in the early 1990s. It still randomly turns up in different spots around the house, like on a shelf in my closet or in a range bag. The 550 cord is a great idea. Cadets don’t think of things like that! I never liked how it rattled around on the front sight. |
