Yes, we know the "big" end of the disconnector spring should face downward. But what if it's installed with the big end up? It's easy to make this mistake since it appears to "make sense" to install it that way. Anyway, what are the signs/symptoms of such an installation? |
| The problem is that there is a very small chance of the spring coming out or getting misaligned. Also since you now have the wide part at the top it can interfere with the proper movement of the disconnector, giving too much tension when getting pushed down and not giving enough tension as pressure is released. |
Hammer follow or doubling are the most common symptoms. Hammer follow is when the disconnector does NOT retain the hammer before you release the trigger, but after the carrier has cycled. Doubling, well, that's just hammer follow with a delay. The delay alows the next round to fire and that's your "double". |
