From what I understand the CompML3 is nightvision compatable. Does it also function like the ML3 and also give full day use, including dusk and dawn? Is nightvision compatability the only difference between the M3 and ML3? |
The M3 is NV compatible, ML3 not.
As far as I know. If I'm wrong, I bet someone will correct me momentarily. ![]() Alpine |

The CompM3 has a couple of night-vision settings at the bottom of the spectrum of brightnesses (for example, brightness 1 and 2 out of 10). The CompML3 does not (only has 8 brightness settings). Note: My numbers are examples, not to be taken as actual number of brightness settings. |
Special coating? I did not know of this. Is it some sort of scratch guard? I have been going crazy trying to decide between the ML3 or the M3. |
No, it has something to do with making the sight more compatible with NVD's, if you hold the M, M2, M3 at a slight angle you will notice a greenish tent on the front lens that the other sights do not have. The difference in price is usually about $40, the sights come with a 10 year warranty for civi use. So if you think that there is even a remote chance that you may get some type of NVD in the future I would go with the M3. |
Your welcome. You will not be disapointed with a Larue mount. Personally I would go with the cantilever mount, this will leave you much more open to future additions to your rifle such as a 3X magnifier or any new weapon mounted accessories that come out in the future. |
Glad to hear that too because I already ordered a new M3 and a LaRue 129 yesterday. I was real close to going with an ACOG but decided to get the AIMPOINT at this time. |
