Does anyone here use the DNTC Comp at all?  I am looking for something other than the A2 birdcage or Phantom for my AR and thought it looked like a good way to go.  What can you guys tell me about it?

I have one on my 16". Works very well. But, like most other brakes it will produce flash and noise from mil-spec loads. Lighter loads, like Black Hills, etc. don't produce flash and a bit less noise. But, recoil is very minimal and very linear.

How much louder does the rifle become?  I'd like the linear recoil and less muzzle rise but I'm not such a big fan of louder.  What i am really looking for is a fairly effective comp with a minimal increase in noise.

I love 'em. Best comp I've tried while still looking more "tactical" than "race gun".

I have mine mounted on a Colt M4 and a LMT 10.5 uppers that I use for fullauto blasting on my M16. They really work on keeping the muzzle down and lightening the recoil. Blast is a tad higher, sort of like the MSTN QC - nothing nearly as bad as the dreaded Bushmaster AK74 brake. Flash - well it's not a flash suppressor - so out of the shorty you get a nice fireball and can feel a little heat; with the M4, much less so. But that's what's fun about a shorty: they are flashy, fast and loud.

I just picked one up based on the reviews I've read from stick and others.  Hope it works as well as I think it will.

I finished a build for my wife a few weeks ago.  Used a DNTC comp on it.  The recoil feels softer and there seems to be no muzzle rise when I watch her shoot it.  Recoil is straight back.  I am very happy with the comp.

Cheers,

they rock, and they don't look space gun, i stood next to my M4 with my buddy shooting it to see the side blast.   Its more than a A2 but i had no problem standing next to it.

WolfiePacker,

They work very well, and like flannagan_bryan pointed out, they don't look space gun.

I've had another instructor run a weapon with the DNTC comp while I walked around the firing weapon (obviously not directly in front), and found that while there was a little breeze, there wasn't an increased "blast" like the Y-comp and many others.  To me the actual shooting was like running a different weapon as I am able to make 25 yard double taps without any trouble.  As already pointed out by another poster, the recoil seems smoother and more directly to the rear, instead of allowing the muzzle to jump up.

Here are a few pictures that show it a little better.

I have a phantom 5C2 on my M4, but I would like to try out the DNTC Comp. Do you think that the DNTC is a better Compensator than the 5C2.

i have one on my 16in. and it works great. It does give you a little bit more flash, but since I'm mostly a weekend warroir it doesn't matter too much. and it looks cool too which is important

Don't own a 5C2, but I have shot a buddies AR-15 with one. It's a better flash suppressor than the DNTC but the DNTC is a better comp. On the other hand, my informal "testing" says a Vortex is a better FS than a 5C2.

Alas, seems like you can't have a muzzle device that is both a good comp and FS.

If you want to keep the muzzle rise down and take some of the recoil out, have something more tactical than race gun, minimally increase muzzle blast and don't need flash suppression, the DNTC is the dilly bean.

Then again, with the DNTC, you can have the ultimate FS: it's a standard 22mm NATO mount for a can!
