I apologize in advance if I have posted this in the wrong location.
I have recently acquired a Colt flat top receiver with the charging handle and bcg in a trade. It does not have a barrel to it, Brownells wants around 400ish for a new colt 20'' barrel 1:9 ( I'm wanting to do a full size now since I already have a 16''). My question does anybody know of a good barrel for the money or should I try and keep the upper all Colt? Another thing is the lower, as I will have to soon get one. I have a RRA AR right now and I love it. Problem is I'm really only know about RRA, and not too many other companies. I was hoping to get some insight on what would be a good idea for the lower as well as cost effective, and same goes for the barrel? I would be thankful for any help.
Thanks,
Britt

I don't have one personally but I hear good things about BCM barrels.  A contender for the lower would be Spikes, Or Stag.  There are plenty of good available lowers.  Others like stag uppers as well.

Colt barrels are nice but I personally feel you can get something of similar quality a little less expensive than Colt.  And I have a Colt.  You ought to be able to find lowers for well under 100 bucks stripped.  Check AIM surplus for lowers but there are many other places to find them.

BCM, RainierArms, Daniel Defense, Spikes Tactical, WOA, Sabre, Noveske - all of these guys make great barrels. If your looking at spending $400 you might as well look at some of the nice Noveske, or Rainier Ultramatch, or a Lothar Walthar barrel from Spikes. If your looking for military spec look at Daniel Defense or BCM.

Check out the links at the top of the page. Those are all good companies with alot of good options.

If your looking for a stripped lower then Aimsurplus.com has Spikes stripped lowers for $79.

Thanks for the help. The only thing with the Colt was to try and keep it all one solid receiver. I guess not that it really matters. Thank you I like BCM I have a charging handle from them that was nice. Just trying to figure out what people use and what they prefer. Thanks again.

I was doing some more research. Stag Arms looks to have a nice barrel assembly for a good price (any thoughts)?
