It looks nice.  What's that patch of discoloration on the buttstock?  I can't tell by the pictures.

Thanks,
John Thomas

There was a white, diamond shaped patch of paint or something. It was a little bubbled up and flakes off with a fingernail. on the left side of the stock was a diamond shaped piece of masking tape but had no writing or numbers on any of it.  I got it as payment for some work for a friend, his father in law passed away and he and some other family inherited a bunch of guns.

There's something nicely patriotic about a black rifle from the bicentennial!

(I'm surprised it wasn't covered in red, white & blue stars and stripes like everything else produced that year!)

Welcome to retroland.  Nice SP-1. Run a patch or two through the barrel, go shoot it and have some fun.  Colt's are sweet and yours appears to be in real nice shape.  Thanks for sharing.

I hadn't thought about the Bicentennial angle, nice. kinda funny having a gun 2 years younger than me.  I completely stripped it down, cleaned it and have shot it.  I love shooting AR's.
