The Sporter Target has a government (A2) profile barrel, not a heavy barrel.  They both have shaved bayonet lugs.

OK, they are both preban, one is   from before the  so called 1st ban, its  has the HBAR, and a flash hider and a bayonet lug, the other has all but the lug correct?   the one without the lug is before the 94 ban. its the same gun other than that.   Just a differnt name to  mark the change

The three I own (all low serial number) all have shaved lugs.  I believe the Sporter Targets were made during the timeframe ('89 - '94) when Colt had deleted the bayonet lug from all their civilian rifles.  They replaced the AR15 Government Model.
