Finally finished my Gau-5a. It's a clone Bushmaster M16A3. Bushmaster 1-8 barrel with fake suppressor.

Nice build, one of these is on my short list now that I've found a 12.5" barrel.

Midwest Industries made a clone of this for a while. I really wanted one, but never had the money when they were available. There is still a thread around here someplace showing it.

Yes I had it engraved like one of the mythical 65 M16A3's that Bushmaster sold the gov't during the Iraq war.

I used the newer Midwest industries LW handguard. I had to mill the Cry havoc adapter plate to clear the anti rotation tabs. I also used a 16 inch Bushmaster .625 barrel with a 1-8 twist. I have about 1000 in the build.

Could any of you folks comment on the Fab Defense folding grip ?

I have always wanted to buy some... but prefer them to be rock steady. Are they ?

Comfortable ?
