I am trying to install a bigger latch in the charging handle.  In order to remove the existing one I am assuming that I can use a small punch to get it out.  However, I tried this and didn't have anyt luck.  It is possible that I didn't use enough force because I didn't want to break the latch.  So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help me get this done without needing to buy new parts!

Use a roll pin punch of the proper size and don't worry about breaking the latch.

does it matter which way I try to get it out (top or bottom)?

Drill a hole in a piece of scrap wood.  Put the pin over the hole and drive it through.  It works best if you put the bottom of the CH on the wood since that's the flat side.

I didn't drill a hole but I put two pieces of wood side by side and pushed it through.  No worries getting it out.  i then used some pliers with duct tape to push the pin back through.  If you perform a similar task, be careful.  This is the most problems i had with a spring.  found it pretty fast both times but i did have to find it two times.  thanks for the help guys!
