Anybody have any experience w/ the Bushmaster Predator?  Specifically the upper portion?  I'm looking at getting an 18-20" upper w/ a heavy/bull bbl that will be used for target shooting and the occasional coyote/pig.  the Bushmaster Predator seems to fit the bill and the price is right at $500 new.  Soo, what say you?  Any other options in that price range?

$500! That is really inexpensive. It doesnt have a bull barrel, just a heavy barrel. Remember it is SAMMI chambered not NATO. It does have a cool 1/8 twist.

It says it has a "hybrid SAAMI spec chanber" which I took to mean a Wylde chamber, is that incorrect?  Either way, I handload most stuff I shoot and this would probably shoot only handloads so the .223/5.56 thing isn't that important.

I have a Predator complete.  It shoots ok.  I've had a few issues popping primers with black box American Eagle Tactical XM193 only.  All other XM193/5.56 has been ok.  I've contacted Bushmaster and they suggested sending it in but I never have.  The barrel is not chrome lined.  According to what they told me it uses a Compass Lake chamber, not 223,  which supports 5.56.

I built another upper to use on that lower.

I have the longer version of that gun. The Bushmaster stainless varmint. It has a 1-9 twist and will shoot just under 1/2 inch groups with 69 grain Federal GMM all day long. I can only imagine that it will do just as well.

CTD has them for $520, Midway for $550, Impact Guns and a local store for $499, they're that price all over the internet.  BTW, I'm just talking about the upper.

For that price buy it, I spent way more than that on mine.
With factory ammunition it will hang right around 1.5" at 100 yards.
But with hand loads I have been able to get mine down to 1/2".

And post pics when you get it.
