With the current shortage, I'm trying to figure out what would be the fastest way to get a working gun (this is my first AR build).
Do you think it would be faster to order parts for the upper separately and build it myself or to just buy the upper half assembled? I'm not afraid of building the upper myself, and I have already ordered the parts for the lower. I'm just interested in putting together a working gun as soon as I can. Though I'm sure many others are too. |
| From what I've seen shoppign around a few of the stores online, there are more single parts available then kits or completed uppers right now. They seem to be getting the parts back in stock faster then completes also. You may be faster piecing an upper together, you just may not get exactly what you want with whats in stock. |

I might be wrong and time will determine how wrong I am. I also thought about building my own upper as an attempt to find a way around the back orders on uppers by all the vendors. The trick is finding all the parts in stock, as well. I think by the time I round up all the parts for a decent upper, the gun panick might ween enough to make uppers a bit more easier to get. With my luck, that will be the scenario. |
