Hi,

Are telescoping buttstock (carbine) buffer springs and A2 rifle buttstock buffer springs different lengths? If so what are they supposed to be (is there any reference chart available)?

TIA for the replys...

Yes, they are different lengths. I don't have the measurements so just do an Internet search & you'll find your answer.

Tried like crazy to look for the specs on-line couldn't find any.

I measured 4 springs today, 2 Colt carbines measured 10.5" (spring only) and 2 measured 11". The thing I found confusing was one of the 11's was in an A2 rifle buttstock and the other 11" was in an RRA carbine buttstock with a carbine buffer??? Was that a screw-up on RRA's part?

right-click, save as (page 96)

"Check free length of action spring (4).

The free length FOR RIFLE ONLY must be between 11 3/4 inches (29.85 cm) minimum and 13 1/2 inches (34.29 cm) maximum

FOR CARBINE ONLY must be between 10 1/16 inches (25.56 cm) minimum and 11 1/4 inches (28.58 cm) maximum, If not, replace Do not attempt to adjust the length by stretching the action spring"

edit to add:
The difference between carbine and rifle spring lengths isn't due to wear. As mentioned, totally different parts.
