Colt 6701, A3. During re-install of the buffer spring, I accidently let off pressure on the buffer retainer and the guide became stuck about 3/4 from being fully installed. I can't seem to get to the retainer to depress it. The flats on the guide appear to be in the correct position. Any ideas. Thanks in advance. Chuck |
You lost me on the buffer guide??? When installing the buffer, I install the buffer and spring as one complete unit. If your saying that you install the spring first, then the buffer, this could be your problem. The buffer will keep the retaining pin low enough for the spring coils to ride over the pin. As for the buffer retainer pin, the end of the receiver extension(buffer tube) holds the retainer in place, and low enough for the buffer and spring to be pressed over the top to lock the buffer into place. Read this, then get back to us. old.ar15.com/books/TM9-1005-319-10.pdf |

CBG, I happy to see that you got the rifle fixed. But, you never did answer my question on what a buffer guide was? Are you calling the receiver extension(tube) the guide, or you calling the buffer itself, The guide. Or, is there a new/magical part that the rest of use need to get???? I'm try to keep up with newbieize lingo, and can't seem to find it in the translation book. ![]() |
