How do you use a broken shell extractor?  And When would you ever need too?

I bought one from CDNN, I figured it was a good deal since I was already ordering from them.  I thought it would come with instructions but it didn't.

It's inserted into the chamber & it's used to grab the inside of the case. Think of it as a version of an easy-out.

The only time I've ever had a rim ripped off was on a .22LR.

The extractor is inserted into the chamber, threw the rimless round, while the bolt is locked back. Point the muzzle down.
Then hit the bolt release and let the bolt close. This allows the flared end of the extractor to be driven past the case mouth, while the bolt extractor grabs the end of the device.

Pulling back on the charging handle, while give the butt stock of the rifle a firm blow to the ground, will pull the rimless casing out.

Then just unscrew the nut on the end of the extractor to remove the rimless case .

P.S. The chamber brush and a section of rod in the cleaning kit work just as well.  Just insert the rodded brush past the case mouth, then pull back.  The backwards bent bristles grab the inside of the case. The case is removed from the brush by turning the rod/brush a half turn.
