The last couple times I've cleaned my rifle, I've noticed that the blue buffer inside the extractor spring seems to be getting "chewed-up" I notice little blue flakes, strings, etc coming off the buffer and now it looks like it's losing size, I'm sure normal wear and tear would get to this component, but this rifle might only have 2k or so through it.  Is this normal?

Not normal.

Take a look at the extractor up-grade kits offered by Bravo Company.

ETA: What solvent are you using to clean your bolt?

I follow your method, the mix of CLP and MS.  O ring has held up fine but the blue buffer is getting shredded.  Thanks for the help.

Makes me wonder if the OMS is slowly deteriorating the blue insert.

Mine so far have shown no signs of deterioration, but I only run the black inserts that come with the Bravo Company upgrade kits.

I'll switch to those.  Thanks.
