So, I had a trigger job done by Bill Springfield.  I have sent him an email, but figured I'd try here as it is late and I am trying to get this done.

I can't seem to get the fire/safe selector in due to the fact that there is a small rod that was affixed to the underside of the trigger.  I have tried grinding it down a little, but I obviously haven't done enough to get it to go.  This was obviously put there for some reason by Mr. Springfield, but it is not allowing the selector to fit at all.  Any ideas?

It's used to remove some of the take up in the trigger (the first bit when you are pulling the trigger back with your finger)  By having the rod there it moves the trigger back a little so less travel.  Have you tried pulling the hammer back?  This will cause the tail end of the trigger to drop a little so  you can put the selecter in easier.

Don't file off the little rod,  I'm not sure I remember correctly but try putting the selector in first then slide the trigger under the selector.

I can get it in, but I can't get the selector to get to SAFE.  It has a lot of resistance.  Even after filing some on the tab

I had the same difficulty installing the safety and fire control group.  I found that I could install the safety first and then slip the trigger in under the selector.  Went together like a champ.

I finally got it in.  I ended up sanding a bit off the tab, but it finally went.  I'm still a ways away from getting my upper, so I can't really fully test it out, but I think I will like it.  Of course, as this is my first build, I have nothing to compare it to.

You could have just removed the grip, safety detent spring, and the safety detent and installed without any sanding or filing of anything. That would have been alot easyer and quicker.

The grip was off, the safety was in and out many times.  Ended up having to put the safety in fire position and slip it in.  I could not get the selector to go to Safe without sanding the tab down.  Either I'm a 'tard or it was just that difficult.  Not sure, but it is in now and the trigger breaks without much pull at all.  All is in and I am satisfied, so no big deal at all.
