Hey all, I'm really interested in the 8.6 Blackout round. PSA is the only brand of large frame AR I've owned, and I can't seem to find anyone who makes an 8.6 barrel for that platform. The Bear Creek gun seems like a reasonable way to dip my toes in the water. I'm not at all afraid of tinkering to get it running, and supreme accuracy is not my concern. If the gun can hit a milk jug at 100 yards, that's accurate enough for my purposes. I'll be suppressing it with a Hybrid 46, on a YHM SRX mount. I've had reasonably good luck with Bear Creek before, particularly their bolt action uppers. Has anybody out there bought an AR10 type rifle from them? Thank you. |

I have no experience with any AR-10 platform from BCA but just FYI CMMG, Faxon and Aero Precision sell 8.6 Blackout barrels/uppers and rifles/pistols. For a subsonic I’d be more inclined to go 338 ARC in the AR-15 platform as the performance is pretty close except 338 ARC can’t shoot the heaviest/longest 338 bullets as the 8.6 Blackout. I think you could assemble a 338 ARC cheaper than a 8.6 Blackout but I understand it all boils down to personal choice. Maybe someone else will chime in. |

I didn't know that Faxon made assembled uppers, I thought they just made barrels. Are they interchangeable with Aero receivers? The future of Aero is a little up in the air right now, it seems. |

Wait, you sent the bear creek barrel to be re threaded? I hope it works out to your satisfaction but I would of put that money toward a better barrel. 8.6 ammo and components are expensive. I bought the bolt action bc 8.6 upper just for the reciever on a 308 build. I think it was on sale. That 8.6 barrel will never get to eat my money at $3 a round. The pa10 lower will work with that upper with a little filing on the back of the upper receiver. |

If it doesn't do well, I'll toss the barrel and buy a better one. You're probably right about the better barrel being what I should have done from the beginning, but my accuracy requirements are not that great as long as it functions. |

I only say that because I've done it multiple times. It's one thing to gamble on a cheap 556 barrel since ammo a tenth the price. It's another when the cost of a hundred rounds of ammo puts you into premium barrel price range where theres a higher likelihood of satisfactory performance. Please post your range results. I'm very interested in trying 8.6. |

Attached File Being subs only, I went with the 338 ARC 7.5” bolt action upper. No issues with the barrel threads on this or my BCA AR-10. |

| Well I'm revisiting this project. That barrel I sent away to be threaded was lost in the mail, I received back the box with another barrel that was to be threaded and a big gash in the side. I've ordered a Ballistic Advantage barrel, with a 5/8x24 muzzle thread pattern. Very compatible with my planned YHM SRX mount. In addition, I've finally ordered that Bear Creek large frame lower. I'm quite excited! |

Attached File I rebarreled the Sabre on the right to 8.6 with a 12.5” faxon barrel. It is my thermal host and stupid quiet. I have witnessed fitment issues between PSA and BCA so I shied away from that path. I almost sent the barrel to adco to be threaded 5/8x24 as well but found a M18x1.5 hub adapter cheap and just ordered it instead. |

Neighbor has a BCA 450 BM. He couldn't get it to hit paper at all. I figured it was him. So I took it to the range and used some of my hunting ammo and handloads. I never got it on paper at 50 yds. At 25, I could hit but it was literally all over the place. Sample size of one, but not sure I'd spend any money with that outfit. |
