There has been an apparent resurgence of interest in the ArmaLite prototypes as of late, probably due to the Brownells proto. After posting his amazing thread, @M16indiana asked me for pictures of #13, as he is interested in that rifle. As such, I feel I should follow suit and post everything particularly related to the rifle I saw for all to enjoy. Many of you have seen my pictures of the rifle in various other threads, specifically the one found here. My exposure to the rifle was due to the fact that I currently attend the United States Military Academy and had the opportunity to go to Airborne school at Fort Benning, GA this past summer. Prototype #13 and various other retro rifles were there. Please bear with me, as I do not have a photo sharing service, so I am going to post 5 pictures at a time. With that being said, here is everything I have. I did the best I could to vary the light, angles, etc, but I really wish there wasn’t a pane of glass between me and the rifle, or that I got to touch the thing (you’re lucky Tom). Anyways, Enjoy.

Apparently this was one of the lesser known prototypes because everybody was astonished when I posted pics the first time. People just didn't know where it ended up. I haven't done any deep searching for details on this particular rifle, but if you have info, or have seen reports pertaining to the rifle, post them here. |

Thanks for sharing in a thread with the serial number. When we start a prototype thread link it will make it easier to order them by serial number. We should attempt to add as much data as possible on where it is located and any back history anyone can find. |

Found a reference to the rifle in “Report of Project Nr 2787 - Armalite AR-15” which was conducted by the infantry board to compare the AR to the M14. Here’s what I found:
The rifle was subjected to a semi auto test and a full auto test before going through the rain test and the heat test. All the rest are flat faced, even the X prototype. I'd be willing to say that dimpled pins do not belong on a prototype build unless your cloning one of the more heavily modified ones. The trigger guard plunger on the other hand, should be dimpled.
