I bought a handful of LMT SOPMOD stocks two decades ago. I still run them. I now buy B5 SOPMODs because they are cheaper. I have probably a dozen B5 SOPMODs. They work fine. ETA: I realized that I had only answered part of these questions: "1. How did you come to use the B5 SOPMOD stock, and 2. had you used other stocks before? 3. Is the B5 your preferred stock now?" 1. I came to use the B5 SOPMOD enhanced stocks because I had been running the much more expensive LMT military contract SOPMODs for years. I thought that I would try a cheaper alternative. I'll give promising products a whirl. It worked out in this instance. And, I like QD stocks, therefore, my preference for enhanced B5s. Since I began to purchase B5 enhanced SOPMODs, I have never purchased another LMT SOPMOD. 2. A few of the other stocks that I have used, are: M16A1, M16A2, M4 carbine, ACE M4 SOCOM 5-position – Long with a 1" buttpad, IIRC, Ace entry length with foam on the buffer tube, Ace skeleton stock with foam, B5 Bravo, Magpul PDW, Magpul PRS, B5 Precision stock, to name some of them. 3. The B5 SOCOM enhanced is my favorite stock now for SBRs, carbines, and most rifles. I employ the Magpul PRS and the B5 Precision stocks on SPR, DMR and bench rest rifles. I prefer the Magpul PRS in these roles, even though I currently field two B5 Precision stocks. The Magpul PRS is a much more stable stock since it is not collapsible. I let a lot of people shoot my weapons and I like to have various options for them to try to see what they might want to run on theirs. Then, we have some build parties. I hate the B5 Bravo stocks. They do not provide my sought after check weld and the angle on the butt pad is just flat out wrong for my usage. Even my wife who is a tiny woman hates Bravo stocks and has requested and received B5 SOPMODs on all of her SBRs. She doesn't shoot rifles much, but when she does, she fires mine. Her longest SBR is a 13.7". All of her SBRs feature FDE or Coyote stocks so that she is able to identify them and grab one in a hurry if need be. I have some FDE stocks on some of my rifles, but she knows that these are not set up for her. My B5 Bravo stocks reside in a storage drawer with the Magpul PDW and my other extra stocks and grips and my no-longer used SBA5 pistol braces. But, of course, stocks are a personal preference. I keep the Bravos and other stocks so that people can look at them and try them if they want. I keep the SBA5 braces to mock what used to be. |

I've had them since the original overpriced LMT days; eventually sold those for B5s and pocketed the difference (they are the same) and now have a variety of carbine stocks. I don't find a big functional difference between B5 sopmod, CTR, Larue RAT, etc. SOPMOD isn't great for shooting off a bag since the adjustment lever is exposed. |

The first time I tried a sopmod I was immediately impressed with its cheekweld. It’s very comfortable. No other stock I’ve tried comes close. Not even the bravo. If you need batteries the storage compartments are handy for batteries, foam ear plugs, and skittles. There are plenty stock also feels good while wearing a plate carrier and the rubber recoil pad is thick. There are plenty of sling mounting options and lockup is tight and overall the stock feels quality. |
| I'v had both the SOPMOD and the Bravo. They didn't stick around long. Both had wobble on multiple receiver extensions and they didn't do anything a Magpul CTR or STR didn't do. I've been putting an MFT Battlelink stock through its paces over the last few years and I plan on getting another. |

I've been a huge fan of SOPMODs since my first rifle, a LMT SOPMOD 16 (2008 production) came with their stock. When B5 started selling theirs, I got one of the super-snug fitting ones and went after it with a little sandpaper on a dowel until it fit less snugly. Since then, I have been buying the B5s in coyote and black, plus the Bravos for several guns. I'd guess out of all my ARs, more than 50% are wearing a LMT variant or a B5 SOPMOD Enhanced. I have increased my purchasing of the Bravos since I've been finding them for $30 from Aim and Arms Unlimited as of late. |
| I have a couple B5 SOPMOD's. I prefer the B5 Bravo. It's not quite as big and it's lighter. I only have a couple rifles with Eotech's that I feel the need to have a SOPMOD on (to store spare batteries). The B5 Bravo is my favorite stock. |

I prefer the Bravo as it is slimmer and I dont need to store M&Ms in my rifles stock. That said, the cheek weld on the SOPMOD is pretty fantastic. |

| Got one years ago when I was building my Colt’s into a Block 1 clone. Superior stock, I carry batteries and spare parts in the tubes. I’ve used Magpul and stock sliding stocks and the B5 is vastly superior. Mine is the gen1 without the QD, like the original SOPMOD stocks, for a clone correct build. I did add an Arisaka QD mount that bolts to the small hole through the stock. Fits good with no rattling on a milspec Colt’s receiver extension. |
