I've always shot iron sights on my AR and am now considering a aimpoint set up. I am definently going to run a 3x magnifier, but what sight to use? Ml2 or Ml3? Is the biggest difference between them battery life or are there other distinct attributes to either? Thanks for the help ahead of time!

ETA: I also like the 2moa option of the 3 since it will be magnified a bit...

ML3 hands down. Battery life is the only difference I know of.

I run a 4 MOA because it's faster for me, but nothing wrong with 2 MOA.

I have heard the extra battery life is worth it. Is there a huge difference between 2 and 4 moa? I've heard yes and no.

I've got 2 ML3's w/ 4MOA & 1 2MOA. Haven't shot the 2 yet but I like it. Reason for the 2 MOA is it's on a precision rifle....Larue Stealth. 4's work fine, no complaints.

What's the farthest range you've been able to engage a 6in pepper popper or head zone on an IPSC or IDPA target...or at least something of comparable size.

I'm going back to Aimpoint (from EOTech) and the 2 or 4MOA dot question has plagued my mind for weeks now.

The 4MOA was never as fast as the EOTech for me, but I never tried anything more than min o' man out to 300m.

I'll probably just go with the 4MOA since it's primarily for closer targets.

ThEUD, I haven't used the 2MOA yet. The 4MOA I can shoot max 3" groups at 100
all day long, even smaller. The 4MOA are on Rock River midlengths stock guns, and will shoot 1/2" @ 50 meters. The reason I got the 2MOA is it's a bit more "precise" if you may. My eyes are the limiting factor as the rifles shoot waay better than I can.
The 2MOA is on a Larue 16" stealth upper which I plan on threading the eye of the needle with
I'll try and remember to post some pic's when I get to the range and wring it
out

I would have no problem at all with min o' man @ 300 with either. I shoot at head size
targets all the time at 200 and nary a miss with the 4MOA. So that's why I'm thinkin the
2MOA may be a bit more precise in not covering up so much of the target

Thanks for the help. I too just have to decide to go with the 2 or 4 moa. I know a majority of my shooting will be from 50 - 200 m's so the 4 moa makes sense for me. However, the 2 moa is still tempting for shooting little varmits in the fields (which would be the minority of the time).

If some one could post pictures of the difference between the 2 and 4 moa at 200m or so, that would be awesome. I have looked through most all of the optics reticle thread but have yet to find any that compare 2 and 4.

Get the ML3 w/ 2 MOA dot

I got mine from Botach for $390.

GREAT SIGHT!  The 2MOA dot is perfect.  I don't see why would would want more.  You can make it bigger by turning up the brightness or make it a nice fine small dot by turning it down.

I love mine!
