Probably going to ask a few dumb questions but I've got some reading material put aside for the details and you guys on this subforum are among the most helpful folks so maybe you've got some quick tips/advice or even some additional reading material that will be helpful; Entirely new to mils, only ever dealt with BDC prisms with fixed design zeros (plus the holos and dots). What are you guys zeroing at? Since most of the dots on the DMx reticle are located below the crosshair, I would think that a 100 yard zero would make sense but there's 2 dots above the cross hair where maybe 50/200 yard or 36/300 yard could be useful. Any mounting or leveling tips? It's on a 14.5, 77gr, 1.54" 0 MOA Ultra Mount primarily used at 0-350yds but I'll be able to shoot at 600 here and there. |

The manual should indicate the proper zero for the reticle. I level the receiver and hang a string for plumb if using the vertical post on the reticle to level the scope. I have series of level lines drawn on a wall if I need to use the horizontal stadia. My scope mounts don't allow stacking shit under the turret, but there are leveling kits that can help if yours do. |

I am too lazy to type all this back out. As with anything intended use dictates setup. What you're shooting at dictates zero. The fc-dmx was designed around what gas guns excel at-good enough accuracy fast. It's a macro reticle (hits on target) not a micro target (hits in a very specific spot on target). I'm by no means saying you can't shoot groups or try to hit a 6" target at 600yards with it, but if that's the majority of your shooting then maybe a fixed parallax, 8x erector in a 24mm obj lens was the wrong tool for the job.
